Espresso Martini

A Boozy Pick-Me-Up
Are you tired of the afternoon slump? Want a little caffeine kick with your evening cocktail? Then the Espresso Martini is your perfect answer! This delightful drink combines the rich depth of coffee with the smooth sweetness of vodka and coffee liqueur for an irresistible pick-me-up.

A Modern Classic

The Espresso Martini is a relatively young cocktail, emerging in the swinging London bar scene of the 1980s.  Legend has it a young model requested a drink that would “wake me up, then f*ck me up.”  Bartender Dick Bradsell rose to the challenge, and this potent and delicious concoction was born.

Shaken, Not Stirred

Unlike the martini associated with James Bond, the Espresso Martini is definitely shaken, not stirred. This creates a beautiful frothy layer on top of the drink, adding a delightful textural element.

Here’s what you’ll need to whip up your own Espresso Martini:

1.5 oz Vodka
1 oz Coffee Liqueur (such as Kahlúa or Tia Maria)
1 oz Fresh Espresso
Coffee Beans (for garnish)
Simple Syrup (optional)
Instructions:

Combine vodka, coffee liqueur, and espresso in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, until well chilled and frothy.
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
(Optional) Garnish with a few coffee beans.
Enjoy!
Tips:

For a sweeter drink, add a half ounce of simple syrup to the shaker.
Use high-quality espresso for the best flavor. Cold brew coffee can also be substituted in a pinch.
No martini glass? A coupe glass will work just fine.
Variations:

Spiced Espresso Martini: Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the shaker for a warm and festive twist.
White Russian Martini: Substitute Baileys Irish Cream for the coffee liqueur for a creamier drink.
Espresso Negroni: For the adventurous coffee and cocktail enthusiast, try this recipe that combines gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth with a shot of espresso.
So next time you’re looking for an energy boost with a bit of an edge, give the Espresso Martini a try! It’s the perfect way to turn your frown upside down and conquer the rest of your day (or night).https://www.facebook.com/the.coffee.gallery.2024?mibextid=ZbWKwLhttps://www.facebook.com/the.coffee.gallery.2024?mibextid=ZbWKwL
